What is the difference between acupuncture and dry needling?
Both acupuncture and dry needling involve inserting thin needles into the body, but they have some key differences:Philosophy:
Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the concept of balancing your body's energy flow (qi). Dry needling is rooted in Western medicine and focuses on targeting trigger points in muscles.Needle Placement: Acupuncturists insert needles at specific points along meridians, lines believed to be connected to organs. Dry needling targets taut bands of muscle called trigger points, wherever they may be located in the body.

Often defined as lasting longer than 3 months, chronic pain can affect any part of the body. While pain is a vital tool, alerting us to potential tissue damage, sometimes the body's threat assessment goes awry.
Chronic pain can significantly impact our lives. It might limit our social participation, decrease strength and mobility, and drain our daily energy and focus, leading to distraction, forgetfulness, and irritability. Because it's a complex condition, a multifaceted approach to treatment is necessary.Understanding chronic pain and its contributors is key. Factors like poor sleep, inflammation, stress, and lack of social or medical support can worsen pain. While this may seem daunting, it highlights the many avenues we can explore for managing chronic pain.
